Who we are
Our mission
At Give Your Best, we are dedicated to tackling clothing poverty and enhancing circularity within the fashion industry.
Clothing poverty affects self-esteem, social participation and economic mobility, while fashion waste contributes significantly to environmental degradation. With the UK fashion industry discarding £140 million worth of clothing to landfill annually, and over 5.5 million people living in clothing poverty, there is a critical need to bridge this gap.
We currently focus on supporting some of the most vulnerable communities in the UK, with the ambition to support every adult and child in need of clothing.
Who we support
We currently focus on supporting women and children who are refugees, seeking asylum, victims of trafficking, escaping domestic violence, with no recourse to public funds or struggling with clothing poverty. This is because our founder had experience in working with them previous to starting GYB. We hope to launch menswear donation and free shopping very soon.
Equality, diversity, and inclusion are central to our approach. We have actively co-developed the free shopping service with our community to understand their needs. We’re an LGBTQI+ inclusive platform and we stand strongly and passionately for all human rights.
Our story
Give Your Best was born in 2020 from a call for donations on social media. It has now supported thousands of people access tens of thousands free clothing, has a community of hundreds of volunteers, has won several awards and continues to grow.
Give Your Best was selected by the British Fashion Council as one their Future of Fashion innovations of 2023 and by Ebay as one of the winners of their Circular Fashion Fund in 2024. GYB has received funding from the UK’s national innovation agency (Innovate UK), has hosted a parliamentary roundtable in the House of Lords, and has been featured in The Guardian and Vogue.
